Dr. David Engen is one of only a few board-certified periodontists in the Inland Northwest. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Indiana University before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He then completed specialty residency training in both Periodontics and Orthodontics, placing him among a select few specialists nationally to hold board-level credentials in both fields. Dr. Engen served as a clinical instructor at Indiana University in both the Department of Periodontics and the Department of Orthodontics.
Professional involvement
Dr. Engen is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Spokane District Dental Society. He directs the Spokane Study Club and co-founded the Inland Northwest Dental Hygiene Study Club. He is a past President of the Spokane District Dental Society.

Dr. Engen is one of only three dentists in Spokane offering Laser Periodontal Therapy with the PerioLase MPV-7, the first and only laser FDA-cleared to regenerate new periodontal attachment and bone.

Dr. Andrea Pizzini is one of only a few board-certified periodontists in the Inland Northwest. Born and raised in Desenzano del Garda, Italy, he earned his dental degree from the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio in Madrid, Spain. He then completed postgraduate periodontics training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earning his periodontology certificate and a Master of Science in dentistry. His research focuses on sinus lift techniques, guided bone regeneration, and soft-tissue grafting. He has lectured internationally across the United States, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic, and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and a member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), and the Academy of Osseointegration (AO). He holds dental licenses in Washington State, Spain, and Italy. He received the Straumann Academic Achievement Scholarship and an AAP Excellence in Teaching award.
International background
Dr. Pizzini's training spans two countries of dental education (Spain and the United States) and active practice across three continents. Before joining the practice in Spokane, he lectured and performed research internationally, with a particular focus on guided bone regeneration and sinus lift techniques.
NASTAR national champion
Away from the practice, Dr. Pizzini is a competitive alpine skier who has been racing since the age of six. In 2019 he won the NASTAR national championship and went on to compete on the World Pro Ski Tour, a distinctive pursuit that reflects the same precision and commitment he brings to the operatory.
